Dragonbreath and Buckbeak

posted in: personal news, quirky 0

I said earlier that I’d post some pix of us on our cool mopeds when I had some. Well, here they are!

Allysen’s Dragonbreath (a.k.a Dracos, a.k.a. Buglet) is definitely the Town Car of mopeds. My Buckbeak (a.k.a. the Growler) is clearly the Jeep. Hers was made by Honda, mine by Tomos (in Slovenia, probably in an old Yugo factory). We love ’em both.

Writing Question: Have you ever had great characters and a setting you love but have struggled finding an interesting story to tell about them? I’m kind of in that situation right now with a story I’m working on.

I gave you a bit of a plug today on one of my blogs. I don’t have that much of a readership but hey. http://googlebooktreasures.blogspot.com

Tim — First of all, thanks for the plug! I really appreciate it.

As for the writing question: well, yeah, that’s actually a pretty common problem in writing. No less for me than anyone else. Probably I ought to write a full post on it…

Yeah. That’s what I’ll do. You’ve given me my next Writing Question. Stay tuned.

Love the blog! Great bikes but, erm… while Buckbeak is a beautiful moped, Dragonbreath is not a moped at all. DB is a scooter, and scooterists around the world would be upset at their vehicle of choice being called a “moped,” I think. =)

Ah, but here in Massachusetts they are both mopeds–legally, at least. There is no scooter registration, there is only moped registration. As nearly as I can tell from my reading, the two terms are becoming blurred in many places. (Sort of like the way “android” and “robot” became blurred out of any meaningful distinction by TV and movies, particularly by Star Trek.) Still, in conversation, I do say that DB is the scooter style, while Buckbeak is a mountain bike on steroids.

    Glad you enjoy the blog!
